I recently viewed a show claiming to list the 20 greatest moments in Game of Thrones. They got them wrong. Seriously. They made some glaring omissions. Arya’s scenes with Tywin? Nowhere to be seen. The wildling siege upon the wall? Nope. Even the Hound’s battle with Brienne of Tarth failed to make the cut. Then I realised: hey! It’s not their fault (well, not completely). There are just too many key moments to choose from. To rectify this situation (and calm my indignation) I have decided to compile a list of each character’s best moments in the run up to season 6, starting this week with the Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains and general Queen of all titles.
YOU ARE WELCOME.
I stood up and cheered when this immortal line was uttered. Freeing slaves by uttering a single word. Valyrian is her mother tongue – underestimate the khaleesi at your peril!
The moment we have been waiting for since the winged beasties emerged from the flames. She. Rode. A. Dragon. Enough said.
CROWN OF GOLD
Such a horrible way to go – and no-one deserved it more. I especially love Dany’s complete lack of emotion at the end – her disdain for her tormentor is truly chilling.
HOUSE OF THE UNDYING
The creepy wizard guy finally gets his comeuppance. WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS? Oh, here they are. You want to imprison me? How sweet. Now die in my dragon flames, fool!
MOTHER OF DRAGONS
The moment it all began.
